What if, you own your home outright but your girlfriend is paying you rent? Do the same rules apply?

I suppose if you kept a rent book. But you'll need a fairly understanding girlfriend, who is prepared to sign a rent agreement.

I'd say with the way house prices are falling, anyone moving in with their OO other half will not be wanting a share of the negative equity!
