Yes that is right boys and girls. Even if you own a house out-right: if you live with someone for more than 2 years you/they are legally entitled to 50% of the property.

The only way is a 50/50 sharing agreement. All else is technically and legally ********!

What if, you own your home outright but your girlfriend is paying you rent? Do the same rules apply?

I suppose if you kept a rent book. But you'll need a fairly understanding girlfriend, who is prepared to sign a rent agreement. wub.gif

Though AFAIK the 2 year rule over-rides all other agreements. ph34r.gif

I'd say with the way house prices are falling, anyone moving in with their OO other half will not be wanting a share of the negative equity!
