Full Version: "no. 1" Manchester
House Price Crash forum > House Prices > House prices in your area

I don't monitor Rightmove as frequently as some do.

Last night I check the scene in Manchester City Centre on the top end of apartments.

Find this at "No. 1 Deansgate", which surprised me at £232,000 (still have the browser open) because last time I looked "Number 1" was still priced up at aspirational prices.

Just a few hours later, I check again to find the same apartment reduced by another £7,000 - now on at £225,000.

Isn't Number 1 where the footballers have their luxury City pads? The car-park basement beneath where Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs got punk'd by Rio Ferdinand?

A few of my acquaintances have been bigging-up No.1 and similar premier apartments in Manchester to me for the past few years... trying to convince me to buy in to "the dream". (No chance... my choice would be a nice house with garden and garage). Unfortunately they don't have Premier League salaries. I expect they might be feeling distinctly unwell at the moment.

When you see it written down in black and white (actually on this forum blue and light blue)....you realise how ludicrous that is.

£180K for a 2 bed in Manc....housing bubble...no way....

Apparently they have a major issue with the service charges for that building. It was always a ******ing rip off. the top flat is going for 1.5mill...been on the market for years...

I never understood the fuss with the Beetham Tower.

From the minute they started building the thing it looked like Hulme circa 1970. It was perfectly clear to anybody with an ounce of sanity that all this "award winning architect" bollux was only ever going to make money for the crap architects and the developer.

What continues to amaze me is why anyone buys into this nonsense. £500k for a bit of concrete and glass over-looking the tram station in "downtown" Madchester? This is one of those instances when I think they deserve to be separated from their cash.
