Can anyone enlighten me on who it is that is setting fire to everything ?
BarrelShifter
The reuters link says it was instigated by youths from "immigrant backgrounds", it then goes on to mention the cartoon that caused offence to moslems a while ago having been reprinted recently as a possible trigger. Can't think why the British press have ignored it - perhaps it doesn't fit in with their pigeon-hole for Denmark as a peaceful liberal democracy. laugh.gif

This comes as no suprise, there is a great inequality in Denmark if you are an immigrant.

Immigrants in Denmark are not entitled to go to the front of the queue on social housing, and they are denied fast track placements to good jobs simply because they are coloured. In addition immigrants in Denmark are not entitled to free public services the day they arrive, and they are not offered jobs in government departments on high salaries.

If I was an immigrant in Denmark I think I too might join the riots.
The Ayatollah Bugheri
Interesting that when those riots in Paris happened about 18 months ago, they received extensive coverage in the British left-wing media. I suspect that this was because they had a right-wing villain, in the form of Sarkozy, to blame for victimising those poor innocent Muslims. Given that in this case, there is no mitigating factor (or at least, nothing that anyone sane would regards a a mitigating factor) with which to cast the Muslims as innocent victims - i.e. in this case they're the perpetrators, pure and simple - the BBC, Guardian etc. are ignoring it.

Looks like some sort of chav/ned/townie or related family of said chav... They are a different species, I'm sure of it...

I like you have no idea who is rioting and that would help loads but I guess it could be the minority youth as they are protesting the republishing of those cartoons due to a plot to kill the cartoonist. Talk about adding fuel to the fire.... blink.gif

Most of them have no idea why they are protesting. rolleyes.gif

Well, it seems more plausible than the re-print of a cartoon.

Incidentally, if the cartoon is that offensive, why hasn't it proliferated on the internet. I'm now curious about what is alleged to have caused the strife... but I can't find it.

Why should they be allowed to do that. Countries should look after their own. Charity starts at home.

Laurejon is well known paid propagandist for the tory party. He pops up here every now and again shti stirring about immigrants, women's brains, how silly FTB and STRs are, how he would like us to return to victorian britain and how it's a great idea to house people in garden sheds (i kid you not, check his older posts) etc etc. Best to ignore him.

It hints at the subtle derangement of house values when brought into contact with fire.

Apparently it's all the RAGE.

this is the image that has caused all the trouble

The joke behind it was about the koran enciting the death of unbelievers(kaffers) by jihad ie holy war, kill the unbelievers.
the cartoonist was making the point that islam was war like.It is the kind of political satire found in caption photos in newspapers daily in the uk.

Civil unrest in the UK would be one of the most significant drivers of prices changes in all assets,
but particularly precious metals and property - history is full of evidence to support this.
I think it has a lot to do with the websites purpose, which is to discuss & debate the history, causes
and progress of past, present and future UK house price crashes.

It doesn't seem to me to be a clear explanation for the trigger of a riot.

The printing of these cartoons is morally wrong. The trouble is most poeple in the West are too selfish to realise this. I am all for free speech but you have to be prepared to take the consequences for your actions.

Why morally wrong? OK I know it's < 30 years since a Xian blasphemy prosecution (was it old ma Whitehouse?) but the rest of society has moved on.

Why? I might be too selfish or too ill educated - but I don't see why printing the cartoons is in itself immoral. I can see why the material itself may be offensive - but ruling offensive material taboo is a sure way to drive it underground and give it more credibility than it deserves.

So a few youths setting fires in Denmark is suddenly a possible driver for a UK HPC.
Get real!!!

This is thinly veiled BNP nonsense and has no place on this website.

I come here to read about UK housing issues and enjoy the insightful comments on the global economic conditions that are relevant to the housing bubble. I've learned so much from some of the intelligent, well thought out posts that I've read on this site.
Some people label the users of this site doom mongers & nutters and this kind of distasteful thread gives them some real ammunition. I'm sure there must be an immigration/politics site somewhere you can go and air your personal greivances on.

The question that matters if Islam is drawn to the "death to the west" crowd, or vice versa. I'd not be happy if, for example, suicide bombers declared themselves fundamentalist Christians, and the world decided to target everyone from England because Christianity is our state religion.
