Given the fuss about Icelandic banks being slightly risky and the fact they've cut their rates, does anyone know any decent instant access savings accounts that beat Icesave's rates (without bonuses or other cons etc)?
Preferably not ICICI. Always felt a bit dodgy about them, not sure why...

West Bromwich BS are offering this: http://www.westbrom.co.uk/westbrom/savings...&category=2

I don't think they're particularly risky - certainly haven't found much dirt on them anyway.

http://www.kaupthingedge.co.uk - 6.5% AER instant access. Seems to be about the best around at the moment.

The West Brom one has limitations: only 12 withdrawals allowed per year. And can't be operated online? Or by telephone even.

FirstSave have 6.5% with no-strings I can see from a cursory scan of their first page and FAQ
http://www.firstsave.co.uk/

Otherwise it's Northern **** at 6.49% or ICICI at 6.41%

Edit: FirstSave are owned by First Bank of Nigeria. Ah, **** this noise.

But there's quite a lot of worry about this bank's connection to subprime isn't there?

So the West Brom account is great if you live in West Brom.

Personally, I would rather be in an icelandic bank than a nigerian one and I ain't going near one in iceland!

Thanks all.
Northern Rock is 100% safe isn't it? Or as least as safe as NS&I? Both are backed by the taxpayer.
Has anyone else put money with NR?
