Beerhunter has finally released his version of property snake which is now called Property-bee.com. I'm going to wait a little while to download it as it's still got some teething troubles, but hopefully it will do the job in showing price reductions on Rightmove.

I've just looked at Rightmove at searched for all properties in Norfolk and come up with 11526 properties - so I'm going to have to view each of these individually once I've installed the software if I want the best results, then view all the new properties that come on every week or so. Sounds like a job for a Sunday...... at 10 views per minute that's going to be 600 an hour.

That's going to take 20 hours non-stop to do Norfolk ph34r.gif

I was going to install it a couple of days ago, but hadn't gotten around to it, and had figured that it would be a difficult job to really keep track of the properties.

I tried something similar with a spreadsheet, and regular rightmove "inspection" a couple of years ago, and only keeping track of 40 or so properties was a nightmare - they would be off and on the market, often with different vendors, different photos would confuse matters, and of course when they come back on the market they sometimes have a different ID number... Then I started looking on different websites (Primelocation et al) and kept finding ones I though had been taken off the market were on with agents that didn't use rightmove, but another site... It all got too complicated, so I gave up! That's why I went for counting houses in the paper!

So! Good luck Catflap! I'm sure you'll turn up some interesting discounts! I've gone through the paper and done the tally, but haven't done the figures as it were... However, there seemed to be a lot more new price stickies this week, but I'll have to wait till it's all done before I know for sure.

Property-bee is actually very easy - I was put off installing it as like many, I thought you would have to look at every single property - but that is not the case. Having seen the feedback from other users I'm going to install it so I can track prices - the following quotes are from the above thread (22/02/08) which give some useful tips.....

Do I have to click on each house or is searching through the properties enough?

Searching through is enough. As someone suggested to me, do a wide search, then click through each page of results. That's it!

You just run your search and click through the listings pages 10 at a time and the changes pop up in place against each property. Still might be quite a few clicks for some areas/searches.

I agree PropertyBee is a superb local tool and should be pinned for all the members who haven't heard about it yet.
Here's a little tip I found to save having to trawl through all the pages to find updates.

1. Register with Rightmove.

2. Start a search and you will get an option to get an email alert for the search (I chose to receive the alert every 24 hours as this works best)

3. When you receive the email it will show a list of all the newly listed properties in your search area, but at the end of the list it will say you have "xx or more matching properties were found" and there is a link to click to "View all property new in last 24 hours" click this link.

4. This takes you to the Rightmove page which shows all the newly listed houses, but also shows any house which have had any changes (price, or from sstc to available) This is where PropertyBee comes in as it shows what the changes are.

5. If you look at the "Refine your criteria" options down the right hand side of the page and check the "Include Sold STC... properties" it will also show any property which has gone under offer but I'm not getting many of these at the moment.

6. Also when you look at the link in the address bar it displays as "http://www.rightmove.co.uk/emailupdatesearch/[your email search number]/1" the 1 at the end is the number of days searched and if you change this you can check back as far as you need, I have gone back to 23 Jan which is when I installed PropertyBee.

I hope this is clear enough for people to understand, it's very simple when you done it once. This has shown me a huge amount of reductions across the whole price range in my area and also lots of properties changing from under offer to available.

This is great news.

As a late adopter I must say it's very easy to install and use. Have only seen one price drop so far, but that will probably change.

I Installed it a few days ago - easy peasy, although I haven't quite worked out how to view changed listings without searching through everything again yet.

Concentrating on NR1, NR2 and NR7 for now. Seen a smattering of drops already, including these new builds...
