Full Version: Moving To Work In A Euro Zone

I have been thinking of heading away maybe for a year or two until property prices cool down and to get some decent money.

I had been thinking about RoI or Europe but I've been warned by a friend that working in a € zone means that I'll lose money when I come back and transfer my currency from € -> £.

Is there a noticeable loss of money when txing funds across? I do know of some people who have had to return to RoI or another € zone due to the loss in value of their money.

Will I be onto a loser getting paid in €'s or is it a more complex issue than this?

Thanks.

If you look at typical rates for buying and selling currency for the retail customer then the spread ( bid to ask ) can be around 5-6%. So you can expect 1/2 that for each way... Whether you are a loser or winner depends on how badly (or well) the £ fares against he € !
