I'm an old timer, and I think, particularly with the departure of a moderator, time for the mettle to be grasped.

Respectfully,

MF.

Well megaflop, the crash is now here, financial meltdown is happening, pray what shall HPC'ers talk about now.

Don't start with that property snake site.

How about now we go and do something else for 14-18 years and meet up again then?

Only kidding.

Couldn't agree with you more MF. This thread belongs in the 'About' section and should be removed forthwith...

Oldie, sort it!

Cheers buddy.

2004 you say...

Weren't the top posters calling the top of the housing market there and then whilst ramping gold to the hills with the full blessing of the mods two, three years ago?

At least now, the main forum isn't completely littered with hundreds of threads about mining stocks along with their conveniently misrepresented charts, from you know who!

Oh, how times have changed, must be something to do with a change of emphasis since then...

Yeah fair point about mining stocks, if the you know who is the guy I think you're on about. His ego got the better and f**ked off recently, fine.

I'm kind of soliciting opinions on whether this is a better site to come to as a NOOB now.., compared to '05.

n00b schmoob, I've only been here 5 mins. and have to sit down the front near the driver. Point is, it doesn't matter whether it's better than backinthaday. There's nothing else like it, and if there are, they're all boring innit.

The job of moderator was easier back then.
Less people used the site and more patience from everyone to hear both sides of an argument.
The threads were more interesting but people still saw too many snakes in the grass.
Now the debates are pretty much repeats of old threads and the standard of topics may seem like they have dropped a bit. Probably haven't its just that youve heard it all before.
Cut the mods a bit of slack and post in the right section, obey the rules and let new posters have their say.
Going on me hols now

I agree. There are too many new threads when there's probably an old one that will do the job. I've really enjoyed following progress on the pinned Credit Tightening thread on this forum and the wonderful Northern Ireland thread over in 'Your Area'.

The really long lived threads have inbuilt history. Not being a neophite, they're much to my taste.

I do think too many threads are rubbish.
Still some quality posts tho around.

For example/...... "lemons have gone up in cost, again" blah blah.
