As the title suggests, I'm looking to serve notice on my flat and would appreciate any suggestions to make sure it goes without a hitch, perhaps someone has a template letter?

Thanks

You serve notice on or before your monthly rent day. We did an initial six months SHT, when that expired we automatically went on to a, one month notice from tenant starting from the next monthly rent day. With the landlord or their agent giving the tenant two months notice to quit two months from the next monthly rent day. Rent day 17th of the month, you quit by 16th of the month.

Our rented house went up for sale a around 20th November, so they could not serve us with two months notice until 17th this month. Which they have not done [ no viewers as yet never mind offers] so their next opportunity will be to serve notice on or before 17th Jan. I have said I will stay till they get a buyer.

So just serve them notice of your intention to leave as outlined above, or if your coming up to the expiry of your SHT, just tell them you will be vacating the property at the end of the lease........you don't need a template letter to tell em that surely.

A simple letter saying that you wish to terminate your tenancy agreement with one months notice remember the one month runs from the beginning of the next rental period (day you pay the rent) not when you send the letter.
Oh and send it recorded delivery
