Has HousePriceCrash run its course?

Now that HPC ideas are mainstream what's the future?

There are now only three threads on HPC

1. Triumphalist 'told-you-so' threads
2. Whack-job conspiracy theorists who can't grasp the difference between CPI and RPI
3. Why-we-all-hate-Brown threads.

Most other topics on the site are become less and less active.

With fewer intelligent postings can the site maintain momentum - or has it had its day?

It could metamorphose into something else. If the crash is as bad as we're all expecting it to be then there'll be lots of people looking for help and advice when they're in danger of being repossessed. The type "house price crash" into Google and end up here. What'll happen then? The most likely outcome is that they'll be roundly abused by the regulars here. People will probably get fed up with this after a few months (hard to believe, I know) and the site could actually turn into a place of solace for those who've suffered in the fallout from the crash. Meanwhile, us doomsayers will drift away and get on with our lives (only to return in another 15 or 20 years: life is a circle).

I'd like to write a post about my travails as a ballerina.

What will be the point? Most people are on here to keep their sanity when their family / colleagues / neighbours / friends are telling them that they are mad not to buy at their time of life.

If everyone's telling them that they were right to sit it out why do we need HPC apart from to note the defections as we start to buy properties.

As time goes on we'll start to see "Have we hit the bottom yet?" type threads. Everyone on here looking for a home will be waiting for the overcorrection to buy before the next boom starts.

In the main I would agree with this post. Many of the posts on the main forum seem to be converging to an agreement on these 3 issues. It doesn't make for stimulating reading...but the obvious reply to this statement is that it is not compulsory to log in!

Having said that, there are some well informed and articulate posters...but one has to wade through a lot of dross to get to them.
