Just back from two days at the London MoneyShow.......

The highlight was definitely Bill Bonner's talk on Friday. I love his "Daily Reckoning" and books (I now have a signed copy of the latest!) so was a bit concerned - you know, when the movie turns out to be a shadow of the book. Absolutely no problem here. He was in fine form with his talk "This is the end of the world as we know it....and I feel fine". It was a fantastic run through the reality of today's political economy. He feels times are good because the natural market forces are re-asserting themselves after years of nonsense and falsehoods. A bit surprising he was a key note speaker at an investors conference given his bearishness! But then there's usually an opportunity in most markets.

Key points:

o Some good sessions by Chris Gilchrist and co on tax and asset allocations. Now where did I hear those reassuring voices before?

o The various strategists talking in the sessions were actually generally very impressive juggling all the factors and gave some great advice. Names included Eoin Treacy, Edmund Harriss, John Carter (a trader rather than analyst), Carlton Delfeld, to name a few.

o Sandy Jadeja was as generous and engaging as ever.

o The Perth Mint boys (European agents) were there from Ireland so good to get to have a proper chat. I would have thought they'd be mobbed but guess its still a bit of a secret to most.

o The wooden spoon goes to the income investing session which (and I don't want to be ungreatful here but) anyone could have written - what about the EEM ETF, Canadian Trusts, inflation, etc? All so UK centric and old school.

o Excel is a better layout than the QEII Conference Centre where it was held.

o I'd recommend the St James Crown Plaza (the staff in particular) if the markets have been kind to you!

Tiring but a great opportunity to reflect on the big picture.
