A suggestion for debate:
OK, so most of us pretty much agree that we are in the early stages of a crash, I mean “slow down”. The rest of the country is slowly waking up to this, although it will probably be well into the New Year before the majority of “sheeple” finally realise what is afoot (maybe when the YoY figures go negative). Many, on reading the recent/soon-to-come headlines, will enter “house price crash” into a search engine and discover this site. They will find lots of info to confirm their worst fears, as well as gloating bears who apparently don’t care about the majority of soon-to-be victims of the coming storm. Finding no real help here they will leave disheartened…
For this site to grow and remain relevant I believe it should evolve into a centre of information that includes (but is not limited to):
• Current core business (ie debate on the likelihood/progress/out-come of a house price crash.
• Advice & debate on how to weather the crash aimed at the average Joe (BTL brigade excluded).
• Advice & debate on how to survive a recession (not just a forum but links to relevant articles etc.
No doubt there are other areas for consideration that the membership might like to suggest for Fimbra's consideration…
Merry Christmas...

Neat idea. Might I suggest you start two threads along the lines of your last two bulleted items? You might have fun keeping the survivalists under control though

Moving this thread was a bit premature IMHO, now most folk wont see it or offer comment...

I for one will be moving in to a specially constructed bunker I have prepared in the remote highlands. I have stockpiled supplies to last me for several years and will not be coming out until the cost of 50" Plasma TVs comes into line with the average weekly wage and I can speak fluent mandarin.

I think this site has branched out already from the HPC prediction / monitoring role - I don't come here to talk about LR and mortgage approval figures alone. There are lots of investment tips, business discussions and more importantly economic debate which is what makes the site really interesting. If it were just analysis of house price graphs I don't think many people would bother posting.

The name could be changed to:

Invulnerable People anywhere - www.ipanywhere.co.uk
or
Publics Tools - www.publicstools.co.uk

OK, OK.
Maybe it's a bad idea then...
After all it wouldn't do to become public spirited would it? Far too pink and fluffy some might say!
However I think we are likely to see shed loads of advice in other places soon on how to cope (TV shows about coping in austere times for example), just thought we could get in early that's all...

Toys of course.
