Brilliant forum, great members, interesting and informative threads. But why o why, etc. do people (you know who you are) persist in stretching the truth in order to proclaim themselves the great crash spotter. There's plenty of real bear stuff, it may / may not happen, but exaggerating just makes it less likely the non believer can be convinced (spots flaw in post therefore all posts are invalid).

Comprehend?

56% of this post is truthful, the rest I just made up to suit myself.

like everywhere else on the web, read it, check it out, decide for yourself.

Then, like others you can slag the poster off on another web site, probably without danger of a reply to defend

If you'd like to read politically correct, dumbed down, good-for-dummies comments, just read BBC or other mainstream websites. They also have their own blogs and you can even post comments which, if neutral enough, may even get published.

Good luck.
BrownField
I agree, it does spoil the forum and more importantly the blog is rapidly becoming a joke.

I blame RealistBear, he's set the standard for spinning stories beyond their meaning. You know I'm right.

Most people on here really want HPC to happen. There are a lot of reasons why...

Things like..

Their Stupid muppet friends say that prices can only ever go up. (look at the amazing amount per year they're going up, that means they won't ever go down).
They want to buy, but don't want to find holding off for five years would be much cheaper.
They're priced out, and strangely, they earn a decent amount.

As a person who doesn't own a property, I'm always amazed at how many people on here actually own a property. They've got one, yet still think that massively high house prices are a bad thing or unsustainable.

As for their exaggerations, well everyone is entitled to there opinion aren't they? And let's hope these 'we're all doomed' posts are wrong, not right.

I guess you have to make up your own mind.
110% guaranteed ( exaggeration, poor humour? or both! smile.gif )

As another poster has said DYOR. Some posters on here can be irritating but they add a bit of spice to proceedings. Give members of the forum credit for being able to spot spin themselves without you prescribing the content on their behalf

Aye, try get anything published on the Daily Mail's website which doesn't toe the party line and they'll cart you of to the gulags quicker than you could write an editorial in praise of Hitler.

Try reading the Scotsman after a ramping piece on property, it's brilliant biggrin.gif As for the Op's original point...er...and...your point is? If you don't 'get' RB/CGNAO/Bubb et all the other mentalists then you're in the wrong place. Their posts are ace smile.gif Whilst you and I and others may not act on their advice you can't fail to have noticed that it may have opened your eyes cool.gif

it cracks me up that a plea for less hysterical / spun / flat out innacurate posting on here is treated as unreasonable / boring / heresy.

it's the one thing that makes me a bit too embarrassed to recommend this site to my (overly bullish) friends.

I can't believe that hyper-inflation is still only 100% guaranteed, surely it should be 1000% guaranteed by now. sad.gif

House prices have gone flat. Then they will go down a bit. They will probably go up a bit after that. Then they will go down a bit more than before. Then they will go down further. Then I will buy a bigger house.

That better for ya?

If posters on this site spent every hour of every day for the next year shamelessly hyping, exaggerating, bending the truth, twisting the emphasis or being selective with stats, they STILL could not even approach the enormous hype and ramping of powerful vested interests over the last DECADE in every newspaper, magazine, TV and Radio station, every EA and building society/bank or average office.

This site barely pricks a tiny bubble in an ocean of misinformation fed to us by extremely powerful sources.

Your over-bullish friends have had an orgy of property ramping views to feed on for years. A tiny bit of balancing in the opposite direction will do them no harm.

Northern Rock Debts 26 Billion

Personal Debt - Trillions+

UK Housing massively overvalued

IO only loans 5-8x earnings

No need to exaggerate - just big numbers!

There are a couple of big numbers on your post, I'll agree with that. Possibly even exaggerated!

House price will fall next year by up to 99%.

That is not an exaggeration. In a normal distribution curve, it is possible just one house in 2008 could lose 99% of its value - maybe some obscure reason.

Agreed. And recently it's devaluing this forum as a source of good information.

Yes it can make things more interesting and lively, but when it verges on misinformation then what is the point? Are we trying to build peoples hopes up of affording a property, with only wishful thinking? Things seems to be changing now, and we could be on the verge of something big. But lets not spoil it by crying wolf every fecking day. It's getting tiresome.

On a related note, words such as meltdown, bloodbath, crisis, massive, and any BLACK day should be restricted wink.gif

If the housing crash is a wimper, I won't like it but I'd rather KNOW THE REALITY than be misled.

Here endeth speech.

I was agreeing with the other poster - mainstream sites are constantly subject to a high degree of censorship merely because people have views discontiguous with the sites general ideology. I once tried to post on a Radio4 website never even got as far as a first post as I was refused permission as the name I tried to use was deemed unsuitable by their censors.

Similar experience on the Daily Mail's website - disagreed with their resident IT techy on opinion he was posting. Found my posts subject to censorship and eventually all posts blocked.

Not experienced such censorship on this site to date. I bet George Orwell wished he'd thought of "moderators", it's the sort of job Winston Smith would have before discovering sex.

Some important points raised.

1. I am not a bank clerk.

2. DYOR. Hmm. I use HPC so I don't have to trawl through a load of different sites looking for bear food. Lot of info in one place. Nice.

3. er that's it.

Its people and replies like this that completely diminish the arguements put across by HPC'ers.

Indeed, the OP made a good point.
