The EU is reducing the price it pays for sugar and cutting production quotas as it ends a policy of self-sufficiency for the commodity begun in 1968. Sugar is one of the two main profit generators for London-based Associated British Foods, which also said it's in talks with food retailers on raising the price of Kingsmill bread again as wheat becomes increasingly expensive.
