Can I make one request please,
If you can hand "old chubby" a towel before he starts his questioning,
I think this would be beneficial in two ways, either he'll be able to wipe the sweat from his pudgy round face, or it'll give him something to throw in hopefully when he realises what sort of answers he'll be getting.
Good luck for tomorrow !!!!!

Is there a non-stickied post about this on the forum? It's quite easy to miss time-sensitive pinned threads.

Good luck. Keep it calm, don't be shrill. If they try to throw you off, brush it aside.
I wouldn't do the BoE are incompetent thing again, don't think the majority of the public are ready to accept that.

A free pint for each of the following phrases that you manage to get in:
"A whole new meaning to the word, 'Panic'"
"The only thing worth selling will be tickets to the show"
"Last time, 20% inflation kept the crash down to 18% average falls. How much inflation do you think we'll have this time around."
"Dont' confuse supply and demand with supply and desire. Wanting to buy a house is one thing. Having the credit to buy it is another thing altogether."
"Someone should tell Gordon Brown that the first part of 'No more boom and bust' is 'No more boom.' We've just had an unprecedented boom in property prices. No prizes for guessing what's next."
If anyone gets shirty, just ask them the current valuation of their own property portfolio.

Well I just have to manage to manoeuver myself downstairs and then plonk my behind onto this chair. Doesn't take more than a minute on a good day.

..and i'd probably better be getting to bed if I want to catch Mr Davis in his element.

Well done FP - Excellent work.
You had a command of the figures which made you look much more considered and intelligent than Mr Mortgage, and very punchy summaries across several important arguments. Unfortunately I think that the concepts developed and discussed at length on this site are simply too complicated to get across in a few minutes to the majority of the public. When they've been fed of a diet of property hype for the past few years there's a lot of collective brainwashing, wishful thinking and sloppy analysis to counter.
Fortunately there's the Truth About Property on tonight which does gently explore a load of wider issues - and hopefully leaves enough space for viewers to form their own opinions contrary to the hype. I still have some confidence in the public (and the BBC) as a result.
I find it incredible that the media's major criticism of HPC.co.uk is that it's been around too long, and therefore must be wrong. But you made excellent use of the Somerset-Webb defence about dying to counter that - very succinct.
Mr Mortgage (sorry, didn't catch his name - he was very anonymous) did undo himself at the end by saying confidence was the major driver, and giving worthlessly hopeful predictions of "between 0 and 5% growth" over an undefined period. Like asset prices ever flatline! I wouldn't trust him with my dinner money.
Still, Declan pointed out his inconvenient truth: "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it." (Upton Sinclair, popularised by Al Gore). And his answer clearly ducked the major point that his whole industry is trying to increase everyone's debt, peddling the myth that rising house prices are a good thing.

Nice one FP
One thing I always tell people is to look at a graph comparing US house prices and UK house prices and over the long run they just about follow each other. Nobody's arguing that house prices are falling over there so unless we are in a completely new world, it's logical to see it happening here too, especially in today's global credit market.
Anyway, your job will be done pretty soon when the next batch of figures come out...you'll just be going on saying I told you so :-)
