House Price Crash forum > Investment > Gold and other precious metals

I've just been helping my father-in-law dismantle an old greenhouse and we discovered that it was more or less held together with lead. How does he go about selling it, and how much can he expect to get?

Sorry if this should be in the off-topic forum, but hey, how "metally" can you get?
Wario
When bits of old pipe &c. turned up on site we used to take it out in manageable (as in non-car-breaking laugh.gif) lengths, a bit at a time and get down to the scrappy in Leith of an evening. They'd go what've y' got?, chuck it on the weighing thing (sort of a steelyard or else a thing like an "I speak your weight" machine), look at the chalkboard next to it for the price, and the drinking vouchers they proffered would be realised as quality bottled ales, for the lads to take home or neck at Run Away time, depending on weather.

So I suppose the answer is "not a lot". sad.gif

Thanks for the reply, Wario.

Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick, eh? I was half expecting you to say some kerrayzee NuLaba directive had been introduced, classifying it as hazardous waste, and YOU being charged for disposal.

With my Leveller's hat on though, and with our Glorious Rulers in mind, I'm thinking that that was (quick fiddle with Warlock Napier's Bones) something like ... twenty gross of musket-balls you had there laugh.gif

Or not far short of a bottle of 10-year-old Longrow ... hmm, decisions, decisions.
