Hi there, I'm new to the buying/selling shares - can someone recommend a website that I can buy/sell shares on the FTSE. Thanks

(I do have an E*Trade account through work - but I don't really know if this is OK to use - as I work for a US company)

Have a look on our Dr Bubb's site (more specialised for that sort of thing)

Also, i recomend a bit of practice with a virtual account (link below), before commiting real funds. Look at all those who though N.Rock was a good buy last week! blink.gif You can easily lose money, but at least you have some money left, so not quite like gambling (in that you end up with no money with failed bets).

Remember you have to pay commision when you buy AND sell and you get taxed on dividend (tiny as they are). I bought shares 6 or 7 years ago by picking 3 companies I liked the look of, the share prices had already dropped massively and thought I couldn't go wrong. I bought 3 x £1000 shares in 3 different companies and they all dropped further. I ended up selling one at a 80% loss.

On the other hand, I got an index tracking ISA around 3 years ago which has performed OK and I've had major success with the company share scheme (a US company......), both more than wiping out the losses I made in my little foray
