a few years ago I was banned for asking such awkward questions...
Oh that and having an opinion that was a little different to the rest at that time!

Then it should have been moved to the off topic forum! But it hasnt has it? Just been deleted outright. And what about the half dozen or so other topics that have been deleted in the last 24 hrs or so, all of which were smack-bang ON TOPIC?

i am finding as news breaks out especially over the last few days- a number of threads are born on the same subject e.g fed rates cut -. Either they are deleted [if no ones posted in them] or they are merged.

That is what happens. If we get half a dozen threads on the same subject, we merge them into one. It's extremely rare for a thread to be deleted, athough many are moved to off topic or other forums.
Edit: We usually delete any topics or posts questioning the moderation of the forums, as explained in the forum rules.

My apologies if that is the case thats a perfectly sensible reason.

You should be grateful that people moderate these forums and protect people from Libel claims and stop the noise/signal ratio becoming untenable.
If you fancy setting up your own forum then go right ahead and go through the pain. Thought not.

I have to say I have always found the Mods to be fair. I myself have posted some seriously close to the bone, and very tongue in cheek posts and they either remain for entertainment, or go to off topic.
