Hi chaps,

What is the best way of investing in Uranium? I have come to the conclusion that, for better or for worse, we will need to have more nuclear power if we are to offset the effects of climate change*. As a consequence I would like to hedge a little by getting some exposure to the dull grey stuff.

I have found a natural resources ISA from JP Morgan Asset Management but that is not purely 'in' Uranium. I've already got some gold, both physical and in BullionVault as well as some silver with GoldMoney.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received... e.g producers, refiners, miners... holders... hell, even reactor manufacturers!

Hmmmm....is there such a thing as UraniumVault, along the lines of BV smile.gif

Thanks in advance...

(* pros and cons exhaustively debated elsewhere, thanks)

Ok, after some digging:

Uranium Participation Corporation (Uranium Corp) is an investment fund. Uranium Corp was created to invest substantially all of its assets in uranium oxide in concentrates and uranium hexafloride (collectively uranium). Uranium Corp invests in and holds physical uranium through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Uranium Participation Alberta Corp. and Uranium Participation Cyprus Limited.

Will do some more digging and report back.

Niger Uranium Ltd is another way to invest. Big jump in share price in the last few days. French owned company I think

I am planning to diversify into uranium too. It seems logical that nuclear is the way forward in terms of security of energy supply in these uncertain times. Over 40% of uranium supplies are located in Canada and Australia. There are also significant supplies in USA, Brazil and South Africa with minor supplies in Europe.

Im going to opt for Cameco, which is the worlds largest Uranium producer and has been recommennded by moneyweek.

Can you say where you got your application form notarised? The traditional suspects, such as doctors, bank managers dont seem to do it any more. Is there any alternative to paying the £60 for a public notary?

Cheers,

Do you know anyone who is a qualified accountant? Ask around your mates... you'll proabably find a "friend-of-a-friend" will do it for the cost of a pint smile.gif

Hi again Dic, thanks for your replies. Yes, I've been concerned about the longterm readily available oil... and after reading James Lovelock's "Revenge of Gaia" I really think mankind has no choice but to return to nuclear power on a large scale. China has plans to build approximately 100 nuclear power stations over the next 10-15 years and fusion as a practical power source is still decades off. When I did my undergraduate physics degree we visited the UK's fusion research labs at Culham in Oxfordshire. They were predicting having fusion online by 2040-2050 at best. Rather sobering to see what the estimated human population will be then - let alone projected oil supplies. Yup, Uranium it is!

Thanks gallivant - I'll look into them. I take it they have principal interests in Africa?
